George NeSmith, 62, of Laguna Vista, TX passed away Wednesday November 29, 2023, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, TX. The One-Legged Wonder had an amazing life filled with love and craziness. The Man, the myth, the legend was born in Tyler, TX and moved to Port Isabel at the age of 8 where he graduated from Port Isabel High School. He married his sweetheart in his senior year, had two amazing children and six crazy grandchildren. George had many occupations throughout his years to include a Shrimp Boat Owner/Captain, Boatyard Manager, A/C Technician, and probably his most rewarding position was Maintenance at the Island Baptist Church where he was also a Deacon. He was given the name One Legged Wonder because despite having his leg amputated there was nothing, he could not do from riding bicycles with the grandchildren to climbing ladders to fix a leaky roof. He would go out of his way to help anyone in need and was an inspiration to us all. He has left us with so many amazing memories and stories to pass on and will be missed terribly by all. George is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jo Hicks; father, Nathaniel Lenard NeSmith; brothers, James Gordon Gielow and Charles Richard Gielow. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Lisa Ann NeSmith; daughter, Lacy Ryan NeSmith Teegerstrom; and son, Justin Edward NeSmith. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Sheila Tolbert Whitman; brother, Roy Lee NeSmith, and grandchildren: D'Anna Marie Kern, Noah James Teegerstrom, Kirra Renee NeSmith, Kyle Edward NeSmith, Henley Marie Teegerstrom and Kylie Arlene NeSmith. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Island Baptist Church, 107 W Mesquite St, in South Padre Island, Texas.
