In loving memory of Luis Ramos Atkinson Sr., 68, of Rio Hondo, Texas passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Harlingen Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas.
Luis Ramos Atkinson Sr, who entered this world on April 21, 1955, in Harlingen, Texas, was born to proud parents, Rogelio Atkinson and Marcela Ramos Atkinson. Luis was a multifaceted individual, celebrated for his exceptional mechanical, landscaping, and farm labor skills. His hands were blessed with a green thumb, and he possessed an innate ability to breathe life into any project.
Luis was a renowned for his generosity and outgoing spirit. His infectious smile was a constant companion, and the familiar phrase "Alrighty then!" echoed his optimistic approach to life. Luis was not only a master of his trades but also a beacon of humor and fearlessness in the face of challenges.
His legacy is etched in the countless lives he touched, leaving an indelible mark through his laughter, kindness, and unwavering determination. As we bid farewell to Luis, let us remember the joy he brought to our lives and the resilience he demonstrated in the face of adversity. May his spirit continue to inspire us to approach each day with a smile and a fearless heart.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rogelio Atkinson, and Marcela Atkinson. His siblings; Rosita Atkinson, Fidel Atkinson, Adan Atkinson, Ernesto Atkinson, and Jesus Atkinson.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Sonia Atkinson. His children; Valarey Atkinson, Luis Atkinson Jr, Sonia Atkinson, Marcy Atkinson Candeleria, Leticia Atkinson, and Daisy Atkinson. His grandchildren; Luca James Atkinson , Liam Alejandro Atkinson, Chloé Najera, Ethan Najera , Makenzie Ayla Okten, Allison Rae Longoria , Victoria Ella Longoria, Aaron Pinones, Joseph Pinones, Brian Pinones, Anthony Arellano, David Cantu, Desirae Cantu, Dawes, Corey Candeleria, Brandyn Candeleria, Jayden Candeleria and great-grandchildren; Hailey Pinones, Raiden Pinones, Allison Pinones, Brielle Pinones, Joseph Dawes, Macy Dawes, Westley Cantu, Archer Cantu, Brandyn Candeleria Jr, Cameron Candeleria, Jasmin Candeleria, and Emily Candeleria. His brothers and sisters: Jose Atkinson, Eva Atkinson, Alicia Atkinson, Ray Atkinson, Rogelio Atkinson, and Juan Atkinson. Numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.
A Chapel Service will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home with a burial to follow to San Vicente Cemetery in Rio Hondo, Texas.
Serving as Pallbearers are Luis Atkinson Jr, David Cantu, Demetrio Atkinson, Jesse Atkinson, Eric Atkinson, Clemente Atkinson, JD Perales, and Ray Longoria.
