Jose Luis Cavazos, son of George and Manuela Cavazos, 89, of Harlingen, TX passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023, at his home in Harlingen, TX. Known to friends and most family as Joe, he was born in Santa Rosa, TX on May 3, 1934. He grew up with a passion for playing the guitar, Johnny Cash Music, Chuck Norris, the Married with Children sitcom, Western Movies especially John Wayne, Indian memorabilia, shooting BB guns with his grandchildren, barbequing for family, and he always had the unique ability to calm all his 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren as babies. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Esther Cavazos, children Nellie Fernandez, Dolly Castillo (Joe Gonzalez) and Sue Warner (Howard Avery). He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Memo (Carol) Cavazos, Adela (Kino) Lara, Patsy Cavazos, Josie Ramos, Mary (Rey) Perez, Sally (David) Leuschner, Bert (David) Hiester, Alice Cavazos and Lynn (William) Robertson. He is survived by brother Pete (Mary) Cavazos. He is also survived by his grandchildren Amanda Tamez, Morrison Cleghorn (Kasey), Daniel Castillo, Sheala (Mike) Gonzalez, Armando (Vanessa) Fernandez, and Dylan Warner. Great grandchildren David Cleghorn, Benjamin Elizondo, Gabriella Martinez, Amilee Cleghorn, Hannah Elizondo, Madeline Montalvo, Zoe Fernandez, Eva Castillo, Isla Gonzalez, Oscar Montalvo, Damian Castillo, Sirena Gonzalez, Julian Fernandez, and numerous family members.
