Mateo Cadena Contreras, 52, of Port Isabel, TX passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gervacio Cadena Gonzalez and Francisca Contreras Hernandez; 2 brothers, Doroteo and Ignacio Cadena Contreras.
He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Sofia Hernandez Palomino; 1 son, Mateo Cadena Hernandez; 1 daughter, Odalys Cadena Hernandez; 2 brothers, Martin and Jesus Contreras; 5 sisters, Margarita, Maria Victoria, Ausencia, Gabriella and Francisca Cadena Contreras.
Visitation will be held October 6, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Chapel Service at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX. Mateo will then be transferred to Veracruz, Mexico.
