Hortencia M. Carter, 95, of Port Isabel, TX passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at Solana Hospital in Brownsville, TX. Mrs. Carter was a lifetime resident of Port Isabel and a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Carter Sr.; Grandson, Anthony Carter; Son in law, Uvaldo Holland Sr.; Parents, Jose and Apolonia Torres Martinez; 2 sisters, Virginia Martinez and Juanita De Bouver; 3 Brothers, Guillermo Martinez, Manuel Martinez, and Domingo Martinez;
She is survived by her loving children, Emma Holland of Port Isabel, Rachel (Rodolfo) Gonzalez of Port Isabel, Vita (Billy) Holland of Port Isabel, Maggie (Oscar) Garza of Pasadena, Texas and Tony (Lydia) Carter Jr. of Port Isabel; 2 Sisters, Nicolasa Uresti of Port Isabel and Maria Aguirre of Galveston, Tx.; 2 Brothers, Cristin Martinez and Palcido Martinez both of Port Isabel; 17 Grandchildren, 32 Great Grandchildren, and 11 Great Great Grandchildren; Visitation will be held on Friday December 21, 2007 from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito and will continued at the church from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St. in Port Isabel. Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday December 22, 2007 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel. Interment will follow to Port Isabel City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Vidal Holland Jr., Uvaldo Holland Jr., Henry Holland, Rudy Gonzalez, Jaime Gonzalez, Mark Holland, Charles Carter, Oscar Garza Jr., Gabriel Garza and Noel Gonzalez.
