Maria Nicolasa Vega, 79, of San Benito, TX passed away Friday July 28, 2023. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose S. Vega; son, Noe A. Vega; mother, Maria E. Sanchez; father, Carmen Hernandez; brothers, Jose Sanchez, and Raul Hernandez; niece, Mari Hernandez; and nephew, Raul Hernandez, Jr. Left to cherish her memory is her loving daughter, Lupita Vega-Gonzales (Frank); beloved granddaughter, Ydalia Merari Gonzales; daughter, Martha Garcia (Joe Cerda), and Eric, Monica, Franky, and Julian. In addition, she is also survived by her brothers Moises Hernandez (Maura) and Jesus Hernandez (Juanita); sisters, Maria Elena Rocha, Socorro de la Cruz (Omar), Carmela Luna (Juan); many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews. Maria worked as a cook at GGs Cafe for many years and later went on to work as a home provider. She was a very friendly and helpful person to all she met. She loved conversing and joking with people. She also enjoyed taking care of her plants but most of all she loved taking care of all her family. The family wishes to extend special thanks to SHC - Dr. David Yardley who was her cardiologist for many years, to whom she attributed her additional years of life to due to his compassionate and professional care; Randy LVN for always being so attentive to her needs and going above and beyond to make her comfortable. Special thanks to the nurse aides and nurses that took care of her in her final days. Special thanks to Brandon, Nancy, Maria, and Miguel for always treating her with respect, kindness, and extra care. A huge thank you to the entire Gentiva Hospice team, namely Stephanie RN, SW Ashley, and Javier RN for all the extra attention given. Last but not least, we express our sincere gratitude to Dora Limon and Irma Conseco, long time providers and friends. A Private Celebration of Life will be at a later date.
