Silvia Esperanza Garza, age 55 of Port Isabel, passed away on Wednesday July 26, 2023, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, TX. Silvia was born on April 10, 1968, in Florida, Copán, Honduras to Lucas Lara and Agustina Mena. She was the oldest of nine children. Silvia was educated at La Escuela de Miguel Paz Barahona in Honduras. Silvia married Eduardo Garza in 1990 and two children were born from this union. Silvia professed her life to Christ from such an early age. She would always volunteer her time helping during football games and church festivities. She was lifetime member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel, TX. Silvia enjoyed reading books, praying, and taking the dogs out for long walks. Despite whatever circumstance, she would always be with a contagious smile and making jokes. She was a beautiful, loving, caring mother, friend, and sister, always placing the needs of others before her own. She was preceded in death by her 2 brothers Julio and Juan Lara. Silvia is survived by her loving husband Eduardo Garza, her loving children: Genoveva Garza, Erik Garza and Silvia Yosleny Elvir Lara; 6 grandchildren, Zeneah, Leighlani, Ethan, Elvin, Yeltsy, and Mia; 2 grand dogs, Duke and Chloe, and friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 2, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, August 3, 2023, at 11:00 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St, Port Isabel, TX with interment to follow at Port Isabel City Cemetery.
