Frances P. Schenk, 103, of Laguna Vista, TX passed away Wednesday July 19, 2023. Frances Elardo Schenk, born January 29, 1920, was the beloved mother of Lloyd Schenk (deceased), Valerie Schenk Finney and Randy Schenk; and grandmother to Spencer Schenk and Jessica Schenk. She passed peacefully at the age of 103 on July 19, 2023. She was a long-time resident of St. Joseph, MO and worked 20 years at Westab (later Mead), retiring in 1985. Her last ten years she resided with her daughter in Laguna Vista, Texas. Frances’ parents were Calogero (Carl) and Angela (Balsamo) Elardo and she was the 2nd oldest of 3 brothers and two sisters who all preceded her in death. They were sisters, Helen Elardo Mears, Mary Elardo Felt and brothers, Sam, John, and Carl Elardo. Also preceding her in death was her dear sister-in-law Esther Elardo (Carl), and brother-in-law Jessie Felt and son-in-law Dale Finney. She is survived by her dear sister-in-law, Ernestine (Sam) Elardo and brother-in-law Dave Mears of St. Joseph, MO, along with numerous nieces and nephews and many special friends. Frances had a very positive outlook on life and met everyone with a smile and her kind spirit. When asked her secret to longevity, she would say she never thought about how old she was, and she tended to lie to everyone about her true age. Fran loved to dance and did so through her 80’s. In her later years she enjoyed playing games like farkle, cards and bingo (well really, she just loved the winning part)! She was a member of Huffman Memorial United Church for many years before her move to Texas. There will be a future date for private family services and interment in St. Joseph, MO.
