Ester R. Estrada passed away in Harlingen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on July 17, 2023, at the age of 90. She will be greatly missed by many. She was raised in San Benito and graduated from San Benito High School. She then later married Jose A. Estrada and spent all her life in San Benito. She was a devoted mother, raising her six children and overcoming so many obstacles on her own. She had a heart of gold and had so much love to give. She cared for brothers and sisters and helped whenever she could. She was very caring, which explains why she chose nursing as her field of work. As a nurse, she spent years caring for the ill and the elderly until her retirement from Valley Baptist Hospital. She had a love for sewing, dancing, plants and cooking. She always dreamed of having her own restaurant. She is preceded in death by her son, Jose A. Estrada, Jr.; mother, Demencia Arenas Rodriguez; father, Guadalupe Rodriguez, brothers, Alonzo (Socorro) Rodriguez, Ernesto Rodriguez, and Juan Rodriguez; and sister, Rosalia (Brandon) Cartwright. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Irma E. Saldana, Linda E. Resendez, Gabriel (Pat) Estrada, Ricardo (Susie) Estrada and Margarita E. Davidson, Crystal Rodriguez; grandchildren, Jouse R. Resendez, Alexander Resendez, Aaron M. Estrada, Evelyn R. Estrada, Gabriel Estrada, Cheyenne E. Dallas, Alin (Mo) Mohammad, Shannon (Delanie) Hagel, Michael Jones, Sadie N. Shumate, Jim (Laura) Davidson, Julian L. Davidson; great grandchildren, Benjamin Perez Jr., and Breanne R. Villarreal, Elijah Hagin, Jude Mohammad, and Lanie Hagle; 3 brothers, Oscar Rodriguez, Margarito (Sara) Rodriguez, Carlos (Maria) Rodriguez; sister, Oralia Lozoya; and numerous nephews and nieces. Visitation will be held Monday July 24, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday July 25, 2023, at 10:00 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Combes St, San Benito, TX with interment to follow to Mont Meta Memorial Cemetery.
