Harold Wayne Palmer, 88, passed away on Thursday, May 11th, 2023, at his home in Port Isabel, Texas. Wayne was born June 10th, 1934, in El Dorado, Kansas to Harold O. and Florence Palmer. He married Saralie Sue Force on March 20th, 1954, in El Dorado Kansas. They were married for 69 years and spent many happy years in Derby, Kansas raising their children Jill, Judi, Jim, and Jan. In 2006, Wayne and Sadie moved to Port Isabel, Texas where they spent nearly 20 years living the retirement life of their dreams. Prior to retirement, Wayne worked for Boeing and Haliburton in his early years, and as a short haul truck driver for Santa Fe, American and Yellow trucklines in his last years of work. He loved maintaining a beautiful yard and tinkering on projects that improved both homes. Wayne and Sadie enjoyed hosting family and friends, either spending time around the Derby backyard pool grilling or the beach in Port Isabel. He also enjoyed traveling, reading, caring for Mikki his Maltese/Schnauzer, discussing his faith, and watching sports. Wayne was a faithful member of both Woodlawn United Methodist and Port Isabel United Methodist, where he attended worship, engaged in bible study, and served on trustees. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Virgil Elliott of Blackwell, OK, Robert Palmer of Augusta, KS, Mary Ann Anderson of Derby, Kansas, his daughter, Jill Annette Palmer of Valley Center, KS and his son-in-law Jesse Miller of Derby, KS. He is survived by his wife Saralie “Sadie” Palmer of Derby, KS, children Judi Palmer Miller (Jesse) Derby, KS, James Wayne Palmer (Marsha) Venice, FL , Jan Todd (Mitch) Lenexa, KS, grandchildren: Adam Miller (Jamie), Melissa Benson (Matt) both of Derby, KS, Jacob Palmer (Jennifer), Hannah Drumgool (Ben) all of Florida; great- grandchildren: Dylan Miller, Brock Benson, Alaura Miller, Cayden Benson, Ezra Palmer, Everly Drumgoool, Eden Palmer, River Palmer, and Graham Drumgool, many in-laws, nieces/nephews, and dear friends of the family. Memorial Service: 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 21st 2023 at Woodlawn United Methodist Church, Derby KS, 1415 North Rock Road 67037 Rev. Mitch Todd officiating. Interment to follow at El Paso Cemetery, Derby KS.
