Eloisa and her sister Adelita, was a long time friend of my Mom's family . My Dad and Adelita's husband played golf while "the girls" visited. I often sat in but didn't understand much of what they were saying. Later Eloisa would work with me on my Spanish. She was a good and patient teacher. She encouraged me by saying I had good diction.
Eloisa (Locha), I fondly called her,
was a Beautiful Soul. She was young at heart, funny, sweet, kind, thoughtful and the best listener.
After the death of my Mom I reached out to Locha. Both of us needing emotional comfort. She opened her arms and heart to me. We cried and cried over the loss of my Mother and her members of her family.. We shared memories.
Then, one day the sun came out and we found ourselves smiling again.
She was smart too. She had a good memory. She shared with me many an old fashioned health remedy.
We became fast friends. We shared a love of gardening. Our favorite place to be was in her yard. Only She could grow things. I just pulled weeds, mowed and played in the dirt.
We ran errands together and enjoyed lunches out.
We made many plans to do this and that. Clean the cemetery, have garage sales etc.
We enjoyed decorating her house. Especially at Christmas. We often talked about taking road trips to visit family and
what fun we would have.
It didn't matter that it probably wouldn't happen. Those dreams for the future kept us young and light hearted. Gave us something to look forward to.
During our time together we both experienced loss of people we loved and beloved pets.
We both experienced health setbacks. But we had eachother to hold on to. and commiserate with.
She was strong of character. She had a deep abiding faith in God and had an extensive nightly prayer list.
I will dearly miss her as long as I live. May God bless and keep you
