"Where Caring Makes The Difference"
Obituary of Julia Diana Janes
Please share a memory of Julia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Julia Diana Janes Love, “Julie”, 55, of South Padre Island (SPI), came into this life on December 3, 1967, in Ft. Worth, TX and passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Valley Baptist Hospital in Harlingen, TX.
She was a graduate of Ogle School of Hair and she trained with Toni & Guy and became a hairdresser and manager. The highlight of her career was her time spent working in hair and makeup for the film industry. She did hair and makeup on the set of Walker Texas Ranger, Barney, Office Space, Dallas, and other film sets. During these years she got to meet celebrities such as Chuck Norris, Selena Gomez, Faye Dunaway, and Larry Hagman.
Julie moved to SPI and opened her own salon which she called “Julie Loves Hair.” She loved having her clients in her chair and felt the time she spent cutting each client’s hair was time spent “fellowshipping” together with many clients who became close friends. Julie was full of life and energy and has been described by many as “one of a kind.” She loved Jesus and started each day spending time reading the pages of the Bible. When she wasn’t cutting hair, you could find her practicing being a mad scientist, spending her days on the beach or telling everyone about her love for Jesus.
A very creative woman, Julie also learned the craft of sculpting and her last project was a set of Christmas figures with an Island theme. She hoped to see them on display at the South Padre Island Convention Center.
Julie loved speaking of memories, holding backyard bible studies with the kids from Island Baptist, singing funny songs with Slade and Sayler, spending time at the beach, watching fireworks over the bay at the end of her street, playing SkipBo, eating salad with Ranch dressing, and discovering the best recipe for Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas.
Christmas was her favorite holiday and she loved to put up lights and give very thoughtful Christmas gifts. One of the last Christmas gifts she gave family members was big bowls of her famous Chicken and Dumplings. Julie loved Southern cooking as well as fine dining, sushi, and even fast food. All in all, Julie just loved food and fellowship and loved to cook for friends and family. If you came to eat at Julie’s, you were welcome to carve your name onto her table and she loved recalling each memory when she reflected of the times shared over that table. Julie enjoyed being a mother and was looking forward to being a grandma. She was such a light in everyone’s life and will now forever be our Guardian Angel.
She is preceded in death by her father, Walter “Red” Lee Janes; mother, Fredna Janes Rogers; and brother, Russell Dean Rogers and many loved ones who are missed.
Left to cherish her memories is her ex-husband, Paul Edward Love; son, Cameron Slade Janes Love; daughter, Sayler Brianne Janes Love; 2 sisters, Jexanne Bransom and Mitzi Nevill; granddaughter, Navy Sianne Love. as well as her 3 nephews and niece.
A Celebration of Life service will be planned in the coming months.
The family extends its sincere appreciation to the doctors and staff at Valley Baptist Hospital for their professional, patient, kind, and generous care given while Julie was there for treatment.
