Sandra Ybarra, 46, of San Benito, Texas passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023. To know Sandra Ybarra was to know kindness. Yes, Sandra was the best at lighting up a room with her smile, but it was her love and desire to connect with people through laughter that made her one of those people that you always wanted to be around. Sandra's life began in San Benito, Texas. She was born on October 11, 1976, to Leonor and Miguel Ybarra Sr. She attended San Benito High School and graduated in 1995. Sandra was always the performer, and she won many awards while she was in school. Ranging from her extracurricular activities to her academics Sandra was a shining star. She was a member of the Mighty Greyhound Marching Band, the One Act Theater Club, and the National Honors Society, just to name a few. Sandra attended Baylor University from 1995-2000. Her studies led her to becoming a scientist, and outside of work, she led a very full life as well, often surrounding herself with the family she chose in Austin and Waco. Sandra found her joy in laughter by getting on stage and performing. She was introduced to the world of Improv in 2008 and performed in hundreds of shows across the U.S. including many with her cousin Monica. She co-founded Shades of Brown, one of the first LatinX improv troupes in the Austin area. Sandra made a lasting impact on that world as it did unto her. Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Miguel Ybarra Sr. grandparents, Martin, and Delia Ybarra and Agapito Longoria. She is survived by her mother Leonor Ybarra, Grandmother Anita Aguilar, older brother Miguel Jr. and wife Stephanie, younger brother Gabriel and wife Daisy, her nephews, Gabriel Isaac and Landon, and two nieces, Crystal and Meagan. She also has a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly, and will do so forever. "There is a light that never goes out."
