Miguel Torres Vento, de 82 años, falleció pacíficamente el miércoles 24 de mayo del 2023 en Brownsville, Texas. Temprano esa mañana, zarpó en su último viaje a las costas del cielo. Nació el 20 de septiembre de 1940 en El Capote, Tamaulipas, México, hijo de Genoveva Vento y Federico Torres. En 1959, Miguel se convirtió en ciudadano estadounidense y obtuvo su licencia de plomero oficial para mantener a su familia. Miguel disfrutaba pasar tiempo con amigos y familiares, escuchar música y cantar hasta altas horas de la noche, pero siempre será recordado por su amor al mar. Miguel pasó innumerables horas a lo largo de los años en el agua haciendo muchos viajes en solitario, así como con amigos y familiares. Le preceden en la muerte sus padres Federico Torres y Genoveva Vento y sus hermanas Yolanda Martínez y Angélica Muniz. Le sobreviven su primera esposa, Micaela (Palomino) Torres, sus 5 hijos y sus cónyuges, 23 nietos y 41 bisnietos. Miguel Torres Vento, 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, in Brownsville, Texas. Early that morning, he set sail on his final voyage to the shores of Heaven. Born on September 20th, 1940, in El Capote, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Genoveva Vento and Federico Torres. In 1959, Miguel became a U.S. citizen and went on to obtain his Journeyman Plumber License to support his family. Miguel enjoyed spending time with friends and family, listening to music, and singing along into the night, but will always be remembered for his love of the sea. Miguel spent countless hours over the years on the water taking many solo trips as well as with friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents Federico Torres and Genoveva Vento and sisters Yolanda Martinez and Angelica Muniz. He is survived by his first wife Micaela (Palomino) Torres, his 5 children and their spouses, 23 grandchildren, and 41 great-grandchildren. They include his son Rolando Torres and daughters Aida Barajas, Yolanda Reyes, Nereyda Torres, and Genoveva Valdiviez. He is also survived by four children from his second marriage to Maria Rosa Torres (July 03, 1977) their spouses, and three grandchildren. They include sons Miguel Torres Jr. and Federico Torres and daughters Elvira Torres and Elva “Ellie” Torres Bowman, and stepdaughter Florinda Resendez Mares. The viewing will take place on Friday, June 02, 2023, from 4 pm – 9 pm with a Rosary to be held at 7 pm at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas 78586.
