Maria Dolores Vega, 95, of Laguna Heights, Texas passed away on May 18, 2023. Maria was born on July 15, 1927, in Durango, Mexico. Her adored father Jesus Vega a mother, Gabriela Silva and Maria Dolores arrived in arrived in Port Isabel in August 1961. For the next six decades she made her home in our community by the sea. She worked at several establishments where she made life-long friends. In her later years, Dolores dedicated her life to teaching the word of God in her group meetings in her home. She was a life-long member of our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Dolores was known for offering shelter to people arriving from Mexico in her own home at her own expense. Visitation will be held Monday, May 22, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St., Port Isabel, TX, with interment to follow to Port Isabel City Cemetery.
