Brooke Tamayo Contreras, 38, of Los Fresnos, TX passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, TX. Go tell the world about me and that’s exactly what she did, The Lord had a mission for his daughter, Brooke. Once he saw how many souls, she won for Him. He said, “Come Home My Child.” When she wasn’t spreading the gospel, she was spreading love and joy anywhere she could. She was a such strong and beautiful person. Her simplicity captivated many people and left her mark wherever she would go. She loved to sing and when she did, she would pour out her heart and get lost in the song. With her faith in God, it helped her persevere and never give up no matter the struggle or trials she was facing. Brooke was such a hard-working person with great values that were instilled in her by her parents and several that influenced her life. She was a mother of 3 beautiful children, that were her everything and her motivation. She had such a drive that she would do anything to make sure her kids were taken care of. Her focus was “her kids.” She loved her family, her parents, and her 2 sisters, which she would always say we are the “Original 5.” You could always count on Brooke to make you laugh with her sense of humor that could just brighten up your day. She had embarked on a new journey which led her to work for Los Fresnos High School where she was employed for 6 years making new friendships and impacting lives through the hallways. She was currently attending Grand Canyon University where she had 1 ½ years left to graduate so that she may give her kids a better future. She had a heart of gold and was beloved by anyone who knew her. She will always be remembered by her family and friends as the sweetest loving God-fearing woman who always lent a helping hand. Her legacy speaks for itself but none of it could be possible without her unfailing faith and the Power of Prayer which has helped her finish her race into the Kingdom of Heaven. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Esteban Sr. and Germania Tamayo, maternal grandparents, Ruben, and Margarita Ocampo. Left to cherish her memory is her companion, Philip Charles Townsend; son, Brandon Contreras; daughter, Kimberly Rose Townsend; son, Luke Philip Townsend; parents, Esteban Jr. and Ana Maribel Tamayo; 2 sisters, Erika Ann (Michael) Tamayo-Elizondo, Rebekah Marie (Juan) Tamayo-Mora; 1 nephew, John Matthew Mora; 1 niece, Grace Marie Elizondo; several aunts, uncles, and other relatives. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Brandon Noah Contreras, Michael Elizondo, Juan Ricardo Mora, Ivan Gonzalez, Mark Benavidez, Mario Tamayo Jr., Mark Tamayo, and Andy Martinez. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. t0 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Visitation will resume Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Lighthouse Assemble of God, 110 Port Rd, Port Isabel, TX with interment to follow to Port Isabel City Cemetery.
