Obituary of James M. Dickens

James Marion Dickens, Jr. passed away peacefully early Friday morning March 31st, 2023, in Harlingen, Cameron County, Texas. He was born to James Marion Dickens, Sr., and Kathrina Polizo Dickens, on December 22, 1942, in Harlingen, Cameron County, Texas.
James Marion Dickens, Jr. is survived by his beloved and only sister, Dorothy Dickens Hushen; four sons and four daughters: James Marion Dickens III, Katherine Dickens, Aaron Lee Dickens, Andrew Dickens, James Michael Dickens, Jacquelene M. Dickens, Jennifer M. Dickens, and Amanda L. Dickens; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also surviving him are nephews and nieces: Arthur S. Hushen, Arlene Hushen Printy and Lisa Hushen Lindner and Thomas D. Hushen; numerous great-nephews, great-nieces, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents: James Marion Dickens, Sr. (1995) and Kathrina Polizo Dickens (2011). Also preceding him in death, among other family members: Maria Lerma Polizo, his beloved maternal grandmother, and Lily Dickens Rodriguez, his beloved paternal aunt.
James Marions Dickens, Jr. served in and was honorably discharged from the United States Marines Corps. He was former law enforcement with the (then) Cameron County Highway Patrol, the La Feria Police Department and the San Benito Police Department. He was also a private investigator. He was a long-time resident in South Texas, lastly in Port Isabel, Texas. He had numerous acquaintances and his cherished friends. Rest in peace James Marion Dickens, Jr.
Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with Military Honors conducted by VFW Post 2035 at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.
