Ramon S. Cortez, 50, of Harlingen, Texas, passed away on April 26, 2023. Ramon truly lived life to the fullest through simply pleasures: chatting with family and friends, listening to rock and roll, and eating a good meal or “platon” as he would call it. Ramon was a thrill-seeking adventurer who enjoyed skateboarding and surfing. Ramon had an uncanny ability to walk into a room and make friends with everyone in it. The family would like to thank the staff at Palms Behavior and Mirasoles Adult Day Care. He is preceded in death by his parents Manuel Cortez and Arcelia S. Cortez. His brother Manuel Cortez Jr. Left to cherish his memory is his two sisters Norma De La Garza and Melissa Hinojosa. His nieces and nephews; Leanna De La Garza, Rene De La Garza Jr., Sarah Martinez, Elizabeth Hinojosa, Ronald Hinojosa, and Mathew Hinojosa. A visitation will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a recite of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 351 S Bowie St, San Benito, TX, with a burial to follow to San Benito City Cemetery in San Benito, Texas.
