I will continue to advocate for NINOS head start and continue to do Ku part in the mission you started. As a parent, I appreciate everything you did for my child and for every other child in South Texas. I just wish I had more time with your guidance. It is indeed sad to hear the passing of Ms. Rendon, however, my first instinct is to smile at the wonderful memories of Ms. Rendon and her leadership role at Ninos. The wonderful conversations at the conferences held locally, at the state, regional, and national levels. I smile when I would hear her call me "Joe" (had not been called that since grade school) during many of our conversations. I admired her outlook at how Head Start was to move forward, she was a master as working with community and political leaders to "make" them understand that Head Start was important and needed to be supported.
I have fond memories of her arriving at events with her entourage of Ninos staff that she always strived to share the spotlight with her. Ninos was always a program that when they believed in something it was supported with a large number of staff present. All the other programs there were impressed with the staff involvement. Ms. Rendon was a true reflection of this process and she will be sorely missed. God Bless the Rendon family at this time of sorrow, but please be consoled by the fact that she was loved and an inspiration to many.. Rest in Peace Manuela.

Q: What was Manuela really good at?
A: Mrs. Rendon was a good leader but one of her best qualities was to bring staff and family together no matter when or where to celebrate life together for birthdays, holidays, recognitions. She loved hosting parties.
