Robert “Bob” Wayne Sandlin, 71 of Port Isabel, Texas passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Errett Everet Sandlin, Sr., Elva Oveda Price Sandlin; 2 brothers, Errett Everet Sandlin, Jr. and John Doyle Shaw; 1 sister, Kathryn Sandlin Allen.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Velma Garcia Sandlin; 1 daughter, Rebekah Lynne Sandlin; son in law, Christian Hernandez; 1 sister, Charlotte Sandlin Lucore; 3 sisters-in-law, Francis Shaw, Cynthia Sandlin, and Mary Ruby Gonzalez; 3 brothers-in-law, Eddie (Esmeralda) Garcia, Noe (Yolanda) Garcia and Felix Garcia; and several nephews, nieces and other relatives.
Bob was a devoted father and husband. He had a career as a custom cabinet maker for the last 35 years and owned several properties that he managed. Bob spent many days boating, fishing, and beach going in the Laguna Madre area. In his youth, Bob traveled to various parts of Mexico and lived in Hawaii to fulfill his love of surfing. He is now featured in the Texas Surf Museum in Corpus Christi. He spent many days gardening, listening to country music, and watching country westerns. Bob was also an avid reader and life-long learner, always immersing himself in history books and documentaries. Bob was a man that loved working with his hands; in fact, he built the second story of his forever home in the Fingers. He was often found creating custom wood works for his home and loved ones. He was a hard-working man known for his honesty and integrity. Bob appreciated the simpler things in life with the mottos, “less is more” and “don’t worry be happy.” His family and friends will miss him more than words can express.
