Guadalupe Negrete Lopez, 79, passed away at her home surrounded by family on September 5, 2022. She was born on December 3, 1942, to Pascual and Carmen Maria Negrete. She had one brother, Peter Negrete. Guadalupe was a wife of 59 years to Baltazar Garcia Lopez and never ceased loving her husband even after his death in 2004. She was a mother of 5 children, a grandmother of 5 grandchildren and a Great Grandmother of 2 great grandchildren. Guadalupe was also an educator. She graduated from Texas Tech University, while working a full-time job, taking care of her husband and her five children. In her over 20-year career she taught children from Pre-K to adults learning English as a second language. She had a passion for education, and it was who she was not just what she did. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, husband, and one grandchild, Timothy Alexander Lopez. She is survived by her five children, Patricia Anne Lopez, Michael Andrew Lopez and his wife Rebeca Maria Lopez, John Lopez and his partner Stacy Belew, Pete Lopez and Rachel Lopez. Her 4 grandchildren, Julio Anthony Lopez and his wife Christina Jean Nieves-Lopez, Tiffani Storm Lopez and her partner Jeffery Cruz Dempsey, Camila Elizabeth Grace Lopez, and Sebastian Baltazar Xoel Lopez, and her 2 great-grandchildren, Marissa Jean and Serena Jean Lopez. Visitation will be held Friday, September 9, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Chapel Service will be held Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home with interment to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
