Jose Angel Sanchez Mendez, 75, of San Benito, Texas passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Ixacomitan, Chiapas on September 14, 1946. He met his wife on 1963, They found the Gospel in 1972. He was baptized in 1974 and got ordained as a minister. He spent his life sharing the gospel until his retirement in 2002. He lived in Matamoros and spent his last days in San Benito surrounded by his family. He is preceded in death by his mother, Asuncion Mendez Cruz; father, Antonio Sanchez; daughters, Jovita and Dorita Sanchez; brothers, Samuel and Carlos Mario. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Juana Zapata; siblings, Elda, Saul, and Orbelin; children, Lorenzo, Maria Esther, Carmen, Daniel, Javier, Sara, Elizabeth, and Martha Elena; 44 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Friday, September 2, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas with transfer to Mexico thereafter.
