Obituary of Arturo Zamora

Arturo Garza Zamora Sr., 79, of Port Isabel, Texas passed away on September 12, 2012 at Sunshine Haven in Olmito, Texas.
Arturo was a life resident of Port Isabel and a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict War and was honorably discharged.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Del Carmen Zamora; daughter, Adrianna Zamora; son, Antonio Zamora; parents, Ricardo Silva Zamora and Estefana Torres Garza- Zamora; two sisters, Juliana Valadez and Maria D. Valadez; and his brother, Jose Angel Zamora.
He is survived by his children: Armando Zamora, Arturo Zamora Jr., Hipolito Zamora, Maria Zamora Valadez, Barney Zamora, Jose Alfredo Zamora, Martin Sosa, Andres Zamora, and Celestino Zamora; and nine brothers and sisters: Juan Zamora, Lydia Z. Lopez, Maria Z. "Chata" Pedraza, Elida Z. Lopez, Ninfa Z. Martinez, Esmeralda Zamora, Guadalupe Zamora, Ricardo Zamora, and Enrique Zamora. He is also survived by 41 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
A holy rosary will be recited at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 14, 2012 with funeral mass to begin at 2:00 pm at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St in Port Isabel, Texas. Interment will follow at Port Isabel City Cemetery.
Military Honors will be conducted at graveside by past District 18 Commander Luis Lucio also V.F.W. Post 2035 of Brownsville, V.F.W. Post 8791 and American Legion Post 498 both of Port Isabel.
