Maria Beatrice Jimenez, 64, of San Benito passed away on Friday, April 29, 2022 at Methodist Mansfield Hospital in Mansfield, TX. Maria was born and raised in San Benito, TX and graduated in 1977 from San Benito High School. She attended the University of Texas in the Rio Grande Valley from 1977 – 1979. She moved to North Texas in 1980 and resided in Grand Prairie. She worked at Grand Prairie Independent School District as an Attendance Clerk and Secretary. She also worked at Cedar Hill Independent School District in Accounts Payable from 2001 until she retired in 2021. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. Her pastime included attending to her grandkids school and sports activities and enjoying the outdoors with her grand dogs, Dakota and Diamond. Maria is preceded in death by her father, Candido M. Ortiz; brother, Candido Ortiz Jr., and sister, Rosie Ortiz. She is survived by her son, John Z. Jimenez (Monica Cruz) Arlington, TX; daughter, Brandi Jimenez - Grand Prairie, TX; mother, Leonila Ortiz; siblings, Sylvia Lopez (Javier), Ricardo Ortiz (Anabell), Juan Ortiz; Jr. Ortiz (Margaret); grandchildren, Ethan Z. Jimenez, Elin Jimenez, Marcus Cruz, Tommy Cruz, Matthew Cruz and Emma Cruz. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 06, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday April May 07, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. St. Benedict Catholic Church, 51 S Bowie St, San Benito, TX with cremation to follow in accordance with her wishes. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Rick Ortiz (brother), Ventura Lopez (nephew), Jacob Ortiz (nephew), R.J. Ortiz (nephew), Ryan Lopez (nephew), and Tommy Cruz (grandson).
