Our beloved sister, Cristina Bocanegra, 49, of San Benito, TX entered eternal rest after a short illness on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Valley Baptist Medical Center. Cris was born November 14, 1972, in Harlingen to the late Sam and Mary Bocanegra. She graduated from San Benito High School in 1991. She also received her cosmetology license upon graduating high school. She worked as a hairdresser for over 25 years. Cris worked with her mother, Mary, at their salon, Personal Touch in San Benito and at Just-A-Cut in Harlingen before retiring. Although, if asked nicely, she would cut hair for her family. Cris loved reading books from romance to horror novels. She also loved good movies and music. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, laughing and always wearing a smile on her face. Cris was a loving and caring person, devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. “To know her was to love her.” Cris is preceded in death by her parents, Sam & Mary Bocanegra and her nephew, Gabriel Garcia. Cris leaves to cherish her loving memory, her siblings, Lisa (Stan), Gloria (Isaac), Sam (Angelica), Joe, and Diana; nieces and nephews, Samantha, Seth, Iliana, Terra, Caleb, Daniel, Stan, Adrian, Sammy, Sophia, extended family, and friends. As we carry our sister, aunt, and friend to her final resting place, we ask God to give us the wisdom and understanding to continue in His divine and perfect plan for every one of us. A memorial service will be held for Cris on Thursday, March 24, 2022, from 5:00-9:00 p.m. and her rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Cris will be laid to rest on Friday, March 25, at 2:00 p.m. at Mont Meta Cemetery. All individuals attending Cris’ services are encouraged to socially distance and wear face covers or masks.
