Amalio Mares, 83, of San Benito passed away on Friday, March 18, 2022. He is preceded in death by 5 siblings, Isidro Mares, Amparo Mares, Regina Mares, Juana Mares, and Jose Mares; parents, Doroteo and Demencia Zavala Mares. He is survived by his wife, Dominga Mares; 2 daughters, Maria Mares and Margarita Mares; 4 sons, Jose Mares, Gerardo Mares, Conrado Mares, and Felipe Mares; 29 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. The Mares’ family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, March 21, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at San Ignacio Catholic Church 24380 US-281, San Benito, TX, with interment to follow to Las Rucias Cemetery off of Rangerville Rd and Military Hwy 281.
