José Carmen Ponce, 61, passed on February 26, 2022, at Valley Baptist, in Harlingen TX . Jose was born May 9, 1960 in Matamoros, Mexico to Rita and Carmen Ponce. Jose enjoyed mechanic work and could accomplish anything he set his mind to. He lived in Chicago before moving to Texas in the early 1980’s. Jose worked for 17 years at Penske Logistics in Los Indios as a forklift driver. Jose met the love of his life Martina Ponce in 1982, moved into their home in San Benito. He is preceded in death by his mother, Rita Ponce and Father J Carmen Ponce. He is survived by his wife, Martina Ponce; children, Gisela (Emmanuel) Mayorga , Daisy Garcia , and Jose (Seleena) Ponce Jr.; siblings, Juan Ponce , Pedro (Luz) Ponce , Bertha Ponce , Herlinda (Manuel) Cortez , Martina Ponce , and Maria (Reymundo) Canizalez; grandchildren, Alejandro Rene Bonilla , Giselle Isabel Bonilla , Alessandra Camila Garcia , Sebastian Isaiah Garcia , Luciana Alicia Ponce, and Aiyden Adameit, Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a recitation of the Holy Rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1001 US-77 BUS, San Benito, TX with burial to follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park. All individuals are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines by socially distancing a minimum space of 6 feet apart and face covers or masks are recommended.
