Esther B. Mota, 93, of Port Isabel, Texas passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Harlingen Medical Center. Esther was a life-long resident of Port Isabel and longtime member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel, Texas. Esther is preceded in death by her husband, Bernardo Mota, Sr., and her father, Secundino Buendia. She is survived by her children, Bernie Jr., Ema, Carmen, Gloria and Eva; grandchildren, Jesse, Jr., Belinda, Romolo, Jennifer, Michael, Irene, Bernie III, Michelle, Javier, Yevette, Cynthia and Aileen; 35 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren; brother, Lorenzo Buendia; and sisters, Hermina Jasso and Elvira Lopez. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St, Port Isabel, TX. with interment to follow to Port Isabel City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jesse, Romolo, Mark, Jamie, Javier, Michael, Billy and Luis. All individuals are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines by socially distancing a minimum space of 6 feet apart and face covers or masks are recommended.
