Our hearts are broken to learn of Coach Sidney’s passing. Will always remember his time at LMCA, coaching, volunteering and guiding our children with such passion.
His smile, energy and positive attitude was such a blessing to those kids…. Forever grateful.
Prayers, love and comfort to Celina and children.

I am so very sorry to hear about Sidney. Please accept my deepest sympathies.
I’ve seen so many people posting about his smile and that is exactly how I remember him, smiling. I remember a time in Junior High when he started to cough in class and our teacher, Mr. Herzing, who was of a very large stature, stepped over to him, grabbed him turned him over and gave him the biggest pats on the back that we thought Sidney’s lungs would pop out. Even in that moment, where his face was red, he still had a smirk on his face in disbelief that this was happening to him.
May he continue to smile from above on to all of you. Rest In Peace Sidney.

I have known Sidney since we attended preschool with Ms. Jackson. I remember, even then, how he emanated an air of “coolness”. He had an infectious smile, a playful mischievous stare, and a personality that captured your heart. Sidney was definitely cool.
As we grew older and attended junior and high school, it became clearly obvious that Sidney had a small stature. Born on August 31, 1972, he was one of the youngest, if not the youngest person in his class. He was also short and skinny. It just didn’t seem fair to match him in any sport with others in his class. Yet, this cultivated a passion within Sidney to scrap and claw in everything he did. I’m fact, Sidney cherished this underdog role and it galvanized his fighting spirit. Some of my most vivid memories of Sidney were of his boisterous laughs that rubbed you the wrong way after he blocked (or stuffed) your basketball shot…right Eric? Between Sidney coolness and his unwillingness to give up was a natural recipe that resulted in him becoming a team captain and the field general of the outfield of our high school baseball team. Sidney was a fighter and leader of men.
I spent several years with Sidney and Celina following their marriage. There was no Sidney without Celia. They were one…a package deal…and I admired that! As we grew older and lived apart from one another, I have discovered that Sidney’s passion and love effortlessly transferred over to his children. I remember him telling me how proud of a father he was. He would say, with a joyful chuckle, “I know every parent swears that their kids are super special, but mine are really special…seriously”. He said it with such conviction. He put all of his energies in creating a climate that ensured Athena, Sidney, and Rocco had the greatest opportunity to flourish, whether it was academics or athletics. Indeed, Sidney was a loving husband and father.
Sidney, I can go on forever. I love ya man. You will be missed. RIP.

Great tribute JJ. You nailed Sidneys’ coolness and vibe and scrappy grit, for sure! So many memories man. We all had such fun times. Yeah, if he stuffed your shot or won any type of competition or match, he’d laugh that “in your face” laugh. I won’t forget that laugh
You two were the highlight of my entire childhood/school years. Love you guys!

Sidney was a great coach and a great dad. He always made time to help us with our Rockets and Riptide Baseball teams that little Sidney played on. His baseball advice was always solid, and his after-hour jokes were always funny.
He will be missed…..
Sincerest of condolences to Celina, Sidney, Athena, and Rocco. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of the family.
