Eduardo “Eddie” Gonzales passed away peacefully on Friday January 07, 2022. Eddie was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 17, 1970 but in1978 moved to Los Fresnos, Texas with his family where he would remain for the rest of his beautiful life. Eddie devoted his life to service and over the course of his life worked as a volunteer firefighter, an EMT, a police officer, a Licensed Vocational Nurse, and CPR Instructor. Eddie will be remembered for his love of laughter, strength, work ethic, and devotion to his family. Eddie was loved by all not only because of his big heart but also his desire to bring happiness and laughter to all around him. Eddie will be greeted in heaven by his grandparents Faustino, Quinta, Cesario, Gregoria, and father Guadalupe “Piro”. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his wife, Betty Gonzales, his step-children Andrea, Cecilia, and Justin, his granddaughters Addison, Kamila, and Kaelyn, his mother, Maria, and his 4 brothers, Lalo, Peter, Tony and Angel, as well as several nieces, nephews, and countless friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 606 W Ocean Blvd, Los Fresnos, TX. Visitation will continue on Friday, January 14, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Los Cuates Cemetery in Los Fresnos, TX. Pallbearers: Lalo Gonzales, Peter Gonzales, Tony Gonzales, Angel Gonzales, Rey “Junie” Gonzales, Orlando “Lando” Gonzales, Ricky Gonzales, Antonio “TJ” Gonzales Jr. All individuals are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines by socially distancing a minimum space of 6 feet apart and face covers or masks are recommended.
