Severa Gonzalez, 100, of San Benito, Texas, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on December 31, 2021, at Retama Manor Nursing Center in Harlingen, Texas. Severa was a lifelong resident of San Benito,TX. She was born in Victoria, TX on December 31, 1921. Her family moved to San Benito when she was young. Severa worked as a housekeeper and seamstress most of her life. In her later years, she worked providing services to the elderly even though she was elderly herself. She worked until she was in her nineties. Severa went to live at Retama at the age of ninety-five when she could no longer walk unassisted. There she made many friends with the residents & staff. She is preceded in death by her parents; Santos and Camila Gonzalez, sisters Dolores (Pedro) Garcia, Paula (Guillermo) Garcia, Delfina Sanchez, nephew Guillermo Garcia. Severa is survived by her nephew; Juan (Sherri) Garcia, and Goddaughter; Lourdes (Joe) Silva. Her close friend Alicia Sanchez, several grandnieces & nephews and her parrot “Lorito”. The family would like to thank Retama Manor, their staff, RN’s, CNA’s, Therapists and all that made her life much better for having you watching over her. Also, thank you to all the doctors and nurses that assisted her these last few years, she wanted to make it to 100 and she did. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Combes St, San Benito, TX with interment to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park. All individuals are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines by socially distancing a minimum space of 6 feet apart and face covers or masks are recommended.
