Mauricia "Wicha" Hinojosa Martinez, 76, of Los Fresnos, Texas, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas. She was a native of Port Isabel, Texas, and a resident of Los Fresnos.
She is preceded in death by her father, Manuel Hinojosa Sr.; her mother, Maria Altagracia Garza Hinojosa; her sisters, Rita Saldivar and Norma A. Hinojosa; her brother, Manuel Hinojosa Jr.; and her daughters, Violeta Martinez and Violeta Martinez Meagher.
Mauricia is survived by her husband of 55 years, Mariano “Indio” Z. Martinez; children, Criselda Martinez-Ochoa (Norma), Gabriel H. Martinez (Cecilia), Priscilla Martinez, and Abigail Martinez Molina (Jesus); sisters, Rosalinda H. Calvillo (+Pedro) and Sylvia H. Camacho (Bernardo); 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She devoted her life to raising her younger siblings at a young age and later raised her own family. She was a faithful, self-sacrificing, and compassionate woman that touched many lives. Mauricia was deeply loved by her family and friends. Her love and devotion to her family was paramount and evident in all she did. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.
A Chapel Service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, TX with interment to follow at Port Isabel City Cemetery.
All individuals are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines by socially distancing a minimum space of 6 feet apart and face covers or masks are recommended.
