She was baptized at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Harlingen, Texas on May 17, 1931. She was enrolled in the Harlingen School District until the Third Grade. As a teenager, she helped in caring for her younger siblings and housekeeping chores.
Luisa met and married Amado Zepeda, Sr., (+) and both had 16 children, 8 boys and 8 girls, born to their marriage. Luisa always said that she was not rich but that her children were her riches. She worked hard as a housewife and migrant worker. With only a third-grade education, she was a self-taught woman who knew a lot about construction, mechanics, cooking, housekeeping, current events, world news, budgeting, running a business, societal acceptance and injustices and music; but the most important to her though, were family and God. She was known to give her all and more, even though she had no more to give. She taught us to love, forgive, not to judge and to believe in mankind. She will always be remembered for her delicious foods, mounds of flour tortillas. Family and friends will mainly remember her for the unselfish acts of kindness, prayers and blessings.
