Guadalupe (Lupe) Silva Vela Jr., 92, of Port Isabel, Texas passed away on November 20, 2021 in Brownsville, Texas. Lupe was born on April 26, 1929 in Matamoros, Tamps to Guadalupe Perez Vela and Simona Silva Vela. He is preceded in death by his wife Adela Escobedo Vela; two daughters, Alma Delia Vela and Maria del Rosario Vela; his parents, Guadalupe and Simona Vela; grandson Guadalupe T. Torres; great-grandson, Zaiden Gilbert Guzman; two brothers Jose Maria “Pepe” Vela and Alfonso Vela. He is survived by his children Irma (Hector) Torres of Port Isabel, Gilbert (Teri) Vela of Port Isabel, Linda (Juan E.) Rivera of San Benito, Eddie (Maria) Vela of Brownsville, Joe (Norma) Vela of Port Isabel, Juan (Adriana) Vela of Katy, Reynaldo (Elsa) Vela of Brownsville and Alma (Tony) Gonzalez of Brownsville; 23 Grandchildren and 27 great Grandchildren. Lupe will be missed dearly by those he loved most, his family and friends. His many memories of being a shrimper were passed on to this family and will forever hold those memories close to their heart. His priceless conversations and beautiful prayers will always remind us of the love we have for him. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.
