Apolonio Garcia, Sr., 69, of San Benito, Texas passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. His proudest moments in life were being a U.S. Marine, serving in the Vietnam War, telling stories of his experiences and when his children were born. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved watching wrestling and football. He loved pancakes at night for dessert and swore like a sailor but was always honest about it. He is preceded in death by his parents; Gregorio and Maria Soledad R. Garcia: two siblings; Jesus Garcia Sr. and Danny Garcia as well as his nephew Rick Sandoval. Left to cherish his memory are his children; Apolonio "P.J." (Maria Natividad) Garcia Jr.,Guadalupe “Wally” (Claudia) Garcia and Melissa (Delma) Garcia: siblings; Gregorio (Rosario) Garcia Jr., Mary (Noe) Aguirre, Juanita Sandoval and Maria Lupe Sandoval as well as eight grandchildren and two great grand-daughters Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 2, 2021 from 3:00 pm – 9:00 pm with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Combes St, San Benito, TX. with a Graveside Service with Military Honors to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, 2520 S. Inspiration Road, Mission, Texas 78572. All individuals are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines by socially distancing a minimum space of 6 feet apart and must wear face covers or masks.
