Pedro G. Garcia, 84, of Bayview/Los Fresnos, Texas passed away Monday, October 25, 2021. He was known to everyone as “Pete” and was born in the Laureles area to Rafael Garcia and Manuela Gomez, on Jan. 19, 1937. In his young years he attended Los Fresnos School District known as “Little School” during 1948-1949. He attended High School up to 9th grade and played football but did not like playing the sport. However his favorite sport was baseball and softball. His positions were pitcher and first base, one of his favorite pitches was the knuckle. He later met the love of his life, Concepcion Jaramillo whom he married in 1954 and started raising a family. At the time they were living in Laureles where the first 3 were born and moved to Bayview due to his work and where the rest of the family was born and all raised. He was a farmer for years and became a foreman for the Ranch. He continued the baseball sport and teaching his sons and daughters the basics of baseball. This teaching carried on until his children were able to do it on their own and he became a spectator. And his children became coaches some coached for the Los Fresnos Little League, Brownsville, and Houston TX. Our dad was an excellent husband, father and an awesome coach. Pedro “Pete” Garcia is preceded in death by his wife Concepcion Garcia, son Rodrigo “Rod” Garcia. Father Rafael Garcia, Mother Manuela G. Garcia, Sisters; Rafaela Hernandez and Josefina Monsevaiz. He is survived by his sister: Maria Vega, children: Rafael Garcia (Erma), Isabel Garcia, Robert Garcia (Alma), Rudy Garcia, Joe Garcia (Hilda), Connie Garcia (Fabian), Lupita Garcia-Herrera (JR), Pedro Garcia Jr. (Michelle), 18 grand-children and 30 great grand-children. Visitation will be held Monday, November 1, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Thomae Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, with a Holy Rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 606 W Ocean Blvd, Los Fresnos Texas. Honored to serve as pallbearers: Jose Pedro Orlando Gomez, Marlo Gomez, Robert Michael Garcia, Rudy Garcia Jr., Armando Zamora, Matthew Gonzalez, Jace Garcia, Jared Garcia, Cristy Garcia, and Everett Garcia. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park. All individuals are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines by socially distancing a minimum space of 6 feet apart and must wear face covers or masks.
