Maria Leonor Muñiz, also known as Lupita or Tomasa, 76 of Port Isabel, Texas, gained her angel wings on Thursday, September 30, 2021 in Brownsville, Texas. Her final days were spent surrounded by her loving family. Maria Muniz was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend that will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her father Agustin Muñiz, her mother Remedios Tovias, and brothers, José Bertoldo Muñiz Tovias, José Onesimo Muñiz Tovias, José Hilario Muñiz Tovias, and José Atilano Muñiz Tovias. Surviving Maria Muñiz are her four sons, José Juan Rivera, Carlos Eduardo (Letty) Rivera, Alejandro (Olivia) Rivera, Jose Tomas (Karen) Rivera; three daughters: Emma Maricela (Milton) Rivera, Irma Esther Galvan, Elizabeth (Venustiano) Martinez; 30 grandchildren: Eveline Garcia, Michael Carbajal, Daniel (Jamie)Carbajal, Juan Carlos Carbajal, Ileana Reyes, Christian Reyes, Leticia Rivera, Monica Martinez, Misty Martinez, Quirino Martinez Jr., Victor Hugo Rivera, Edith Rivera, Olivia Rivera, Alex Rivera, Joshua Rivera, Efrain Galvan Jr., Mayra Galvan, Daniel Galvan, Jesse Galvan, Gabriel Galvan, Julissa Rivera, Tommy Lee Rivera, Stephen Rivera, John Brown, Elizabeth Lynn Nunez, and Tory Vela; 20 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; one brother, José Magdaleno Muniz Tovias; one sister, Maria Antonia Muniz Tovias. Visitation will be held Monday October 11, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St., Port Isabel, Texas. Interment to follow at the Port Isabel City Cemetery in Port Isabel. All individuals are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines by socially distancing a minimum space of 6 feet apart and must wear face covers or masks.
