Obituary of Beatriz Vega Zapata

Beatriz Vega Zapata, 79, of Port Isabel passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021.
Beatriz was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She dedicated her life to making everyone around her feel loved and cared for. She was a lifelong resident of Port Isabel, Texas. She was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, member of the Catholic Daughters of Americas Court #2569, the Bereavement Committee with OLSS, the Cookie Club with CCE at OLSS and a member of the Guadalupanas. She loved to host big family events such as, the Annual Zapata Family Easter Egg Hunt, countless chalupa game nights, family holidays, and any other celebration that involved our big extended family members. She was an avid supporter of Walk for Women events, and a proud fan of the Port Isabel Tarpons and the Dallas Cowboys. She competed annually and won many honors in the Port Isabel Shrimp Cook-off. Beatriz served as the Precinct 83 Chair for the Democratic Party.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Juan and Isabel B. Vega, her siblings: Jose Anorga, Maria Ochoa, Porfirio Vega, Sofia Carrillo and Eliseo B. Vega.
Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 58 years: Juan C. Zapata, loving daughters: Isabel Zapata Suttner, Rosa Maria Zapata, Sofia Zapata, Elizabeth Zapata Kemper and Maribel Zapata Valdez; grandchildren: Christina Marie Suttner, Selena Isabel Suttner, Valerie Marie LeBlanc, Gregorio Ruiz, Denise Garcia, Flora Isabel Badillo, Shelby Christine Barrera, Jaime Juan Gonzalez, Madison Anne Kemper, Katherine Beatriz Kemper, Charisma Valdez, Luke Anthony Valdez, Matthew Rene Valdez, great-grandchildren: John Kyle LeBlanc, Andrew LeBlanc Jr., Andrea Marie LeBlanc, Logan Ruiz, Stella Grae Garcia, Jason Garcia Jr., Jordan Badillo, and Aubrianna Sinay Badillo.
Pallbearers: Urbano Gonzalez, Arthur Kemper, Greg Ruiz, Jaime Juan Gonzalez, Andrew LeBlanc Jr., Andres Barrera, Jason Garcia, Kyle LeBlanc, Luke Valdez, Ruben Flores. Honorary Pallbearers: Timon Badillo, Matthew Valdez, Andrew LeBlanc Jr., Jordan Badillo, Logan Ruiz.
Visitation will be held Sunday October 03, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.
A Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 04, 2021 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St., Port Isabel, Texas.
Interment to follow at the Port Isabel City Cemetery in Port Isabel.
All individuals are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines by socially distancing a minimum space of 6 feet apart and must wear face covers or masks. (May include bandanas or sewn or cloth face coverings).
