Our beloved, Juanita D. "Janie" Cavazos, from San Benito, TX passed away to be with our Lord on September 09, 2021.
Juanita, age 91, was born in Vaughn, New Mexico on March 17, 1930 to Santos and Barbara Duran. She lived in San Benito, TX most of her life where she retired as Head Baker from San Benito High School. She worked for San Benito C.I.S.D. for 23 years. She was one of the loyalist Greyhound fans you knew. Purple and Gold will forever be her colors!
Juanita never closed her doors to anyone. Everyone who knew her, knew her as "Grandma". She helped so many in any way she could and gave many a place to stay at "Grandma's House". Once you met her and she invited you in, you always found your way back to "Grandma's House"!
Juanita was married to the late, Baldemar G. "Tiny" Cavazos, who passed away, December 16, 1999.
She is survived by two children: Mary Helen C. Rivera [Carlos Gonzalez] and George Cavazos, her son in law: Felix Rivera Jr. [Rosalinda Gonzalez], five grandchildren: Sarah L. Rivera [Samantha Tollstam], Felix Rivera III [Amanda Nunez], Richard Rivera, Kassandra Cavazos and Salvador B. Cavazos and six great-grandchildren.
We love you Grandma!!! You will forever be missed!!!
Visitation will be held Monday September 27, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.
A Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 351 S Bowie St, San Benito, TX 78586 with interment to follow at the Mont Meta Memorial Park.
All individuals are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines by socially distancing a minimum space of 6 feet apart and must wear face covers or masks. (May include bandanas or sewn or cloth face coverings).
