Jose Ubin Garza, Jr., 81, of Port Isabel passed away Saturday, September 18, 2021. Jose was born in Port Isabel, Texas on December 10, 1939. He was a lifelong resident of Port Isabel. He worked at Dock Building-Seawalls in South Padre Island with A.V. Gregory, Jr. Construction. He worked 30 years in maintenance for Summit Condos. Jose was married in 1966 and was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his mother: Felipa Barrera-Garza, sister: Ramona Reyes, father: Jose Ubin Garza, Sr., sister: Angelica Cantu, brother: Ronald Garza, Sister: Ana Puente, and brother: Roberto Garza. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 56 years: Graciela B. Garza, 2 daughters: Martha V. Garza-(Aure) Silva, Lori Ann Garza-(Daniel)Campos, and son: Jose Ubin (Joanna)Garza III. He is also survived by his siblings: Felipe Garza, Jesus Jijon, Maria Burnett, Esperanza Garza, Esmeralda Green, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held Monday September 27, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St., Port Isabel, Texas. Interment to follow at the Port Isabel Cemetery. Pallbearers: Jose (Ubin) Garza III, Matthew Garza, Jose Ubin Garza IV, Sergio Carrillo, Aureliano Silva, Jr., Aureliano Silva III, Rodolfo Isacc Ochoa, and Daniel Campos. Jesus Jijon will serve as an honorary pallbearer. All individuals are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines by socially distancing a minimum space of 6 feet apart and must wear face covers or masks.
