Rafael S. Salazar, 89, of Port Isabel/Los Fresnos, Texas, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021 in Harlingen, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife: Tomasa R. Salazar, parents: Gregorio and Felipa Salazar, brothers: Juan, Gonzalo, Julio, Gerardo, Gregorio, sisters: Amelia Contreras, and Maria Dolores “Lola” Salazar. Left to cherish his memory are his 4 daughters: Evangelina (Elisandro) Leos, Diana Salazar, Beatrice (Vidal) Mendoza, Maria Elena (Timothy) Anderson, 2 sons: Rafael (Patricia) Salazar, Jr., Roy Gregory (Emma) Salazar, 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and brother: Alfonso (+Elva) Salazar. He was a missionary for many years. He enjoyed and loved spreading the word of God. He was a great father, grandfather and great grandfather. Ralphie will truly be missed. Thanks Dad for all of your guidance and instilling in our heart the love of God. Thank you for all the great laughs, advice and all of the great memories. A private service was held followed by a graveside service at Port Isabel City Cemetery. Pastoral services provided by Raul Rodriguez, Director De Ministerios Hispanos and Pastor Tim Love, Bridge Community Church. Serving as pallbearers were Roy Salazar, Rafael Salazar Jr., Daniel Mendoza, Vidal Mendoza, Sr., Elisando Leos, Jr., and Angel Ochoa.
