Ofelia R. Trevino, 72, was born on January 23, 1949 to Santiago and Lazara Rendon and entered into eternal rest on September 6, 2021 at 12:25 a.m. at Solara Specialty Hospital in Harlingen, Texas due to complications of an ongoing illness. Ofelia is preceded in death by her parents, her brother: Acenscion Rendon, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her ex-husband, Ignacio Trevino, her 4 children: Norma A. Trevino (Hector Escamilla), Guadalupe T. Castro (Cristobal Castro, Jr.) Julio Cesar Trevino (Laura Trevino) and Jorge Trevino (Mary Trevino), 6 grandchildren: Eric Barrera (Cindy Barrera), Cristobal Castro III, Jesus I. Castro, Emmanuel Castro, Sofia I. Trevino, and Samuel D. Trevino, 3 great-grandchildren: Melany, Michael and Madelin Barrera. Ofelia was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She loved spending time outside with her plants, flowers, reading, and cooking for her family on Sunday nights and special occasions. Family time was very important to her after God. She especially loved the Christmas holiday and the time spent with family and friends during the posadas. She was a parishioner of the Saint Cecilia Catholic Church in Los Fresnos. Visitation will be held Thursday September 9, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held Friday September 10, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church 606 W Ocean Blvd, Los Fresnos, TX with interment to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Cemetery in San Benito. All individuals are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines by socially distancing a minimum space of 6 feet apart and must wear face covers or masks.
