Leopoldo Reyna Espinoza Sr., 69 , of Port Isabel/ Brownsville passed away on, Monday August 30, 2021, in Laguna Vista surrounded by his loving family. Leopoldo was born on September 15, 1951 in Brownsville, Texas on to a family of nine. He grew up working as a shrimper on the shrimp boats, and just like that he fell in love with the water. He later went on to Marry Frances Vela and having a family of three. Leo continued his passion for fishing and living life on the water. He is preceded in death by his father; Enrique Garcia Espinoza: mother; Juanita Reyna Espinoza: brother Ramon Espinoza as well as a sister Ermita Espinoza. Leopoldo is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Frances Vela: children; Leo (Patty) Espinoza, Lee Ray (Araceli Mireles) Espinoza and Lynnette (David) Alvarado: three grandsons; Matthew Leo (Jennifer)Espinoza, Liam Ray Espinoza and Ayven Lee Espinoza: six granddaughters; Natalie Espinoza, Emilie Espinoza, Abigail Alvarado, Aliah Alvarado, April Alvarado and Anaya Alvarado: great-granddaughter: Sophia Naomi Espinoza; siblings; Rudy Jimmy Espinoza, Franco, George, Danny Garza, Gilbert Garza, Irma Rivera, Norma Munoz, Delma Mora, Hilda Sosa, Gracie Hall and Esmeralda Granado as well as numerous other relatives. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 from 4 pm to 9 pm with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7 pm. at Thomae Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at 11 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church located at 705 S. Longoria Street in Port Isabel Texas with Burial to follow to Port Isabel City Cemetery. Honored to be serving as pallbearers will be Leo Espinoza Jr., Lee Ray Espinoza, Lupe Vela Jr., Joe Vela, Edmundo Ramirez Jr., Juan Mora, George Garza and David Alvarado.
