Obituary of Guadalupe Rivera

Guadalupe "Lupe" Rivera, 59, of Port Isabel, Texas, surrounded by her loved ones, went to be with the Lord on July 12, 2012 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas.
She was a lifetime resident of Port Isabel, a faithful member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and the Guadalupana, and a volunteer helper for school activities.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesus Núñez Martinez and Altagracia Garcia; and her brother Mario Martinez.
She is survived by her husband, Carlos "Chale" Rivera Sr.; her children: Maria Zulema ("Beto") Torres, Mayra (Beto) Ornelas, Abel (Brenda) Martinez, Arturo (Margaret) Martinez, Jose (Sandy) Martinez, and Magdalena Torres (Carlos Jr.) Rivera; two brothers, Rafael (Jova) Martinez and Esquiel (Olga) Martinez; three sisters: Ramona Martinez, Anita Garza, and Carmen Garza; 15 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 15, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a holy rosary at 7:00 pm at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Visitation will also be held on Monday, July 16, 2012 from 12:00 Pm to 4:00 pm at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home. Visitation will continue from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a holy rosary at 7:00 pm, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church located on 705 S. Longoria St. in Port Isabel, Texas.
Mass of Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 10:00 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Committal service will follow at Port Isabel City Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Abel Martinez, Arturo Martinez, Jose Martinez, Sergio Mancillas, Juan Lopez, and Jesse Vasquez.
