Consuelo Atkinson, 98, of San Benito, TX, went to be with our Lord, on July 14, 2021, at The Veranda Nursing and Rehab in Harlingen, TX. She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecilio and Dominga Atkinson, her siblings, Daniel (Julia) Atkinson, Fernando ( Felipa) Atkinson, Santos (Beatriz) Atkinson, Eva (Frank) Villafuerte, Hortencia (Gilberto) Barrera, Luisa Atkinson, and brother in law Eddie Valenzuela. Left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Lupita (Manuel) Agado, and Pauline Valenzuela, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Consuelo also owned and ran Atkinson’s Grocery in San Benito. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 19, 2021, from 5pm to 9pm at Thomae Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, with a Holy Rosary to be held at 7pm. A Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at 2pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in San Benito with burial to follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Manuel Agado Jr., Ricardo Agado, Carlos Agado, Cecilio Atkinson, Diego Agado and Bobby Valenzuela. Honorary pallbearers will be Hector Atkinson, Vicente Atkinson, Daniel Atkinson Jr., Gilbert Barrera and Eddie Valenzuela, Frank, David, and Rene Villafuerte. The family would like to give special thanks to The Veranda Nursing and Rehab in Harlingen for the many years they cared for Ms. Atkinson.
