David Cantu, 78, of Brownsville, TX, went to be with our Lord, on June 23, 2021, at Solara Hospital in Brownsville. David Cantu was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in South Korea. He was a devoted prayer warrior who loved to meditate in God’s word and enjoyed fellowship with his church family. David would wake up early in the morning at 5:00 a.m. to start off his day with prayer and a hot cup of coffee. He taught us how to pray, love God and read our Bible every day. During his spare time he enjoyed reading and having deep meaningful conversations with his wife, kids and grandkids. David Cantu was a great provider for his family who will be dearly missed but never forgotten and forever in our hearts! He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Brijida Cantu. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Oseas Cantu, David Cantu Jr., Elisa Camacho, Edna Cantu and Eli Cantu. Also surviving are his siblings, Jose Angel Casas, Nora Lerma, Abel Cantu, Esther Cantu Foster, and Elias Cantu, along with his grandchildren, David Gadiel Cantu, Marcos Cantu, Brandon Mason Cantu, Ashley Denise Cantu, Jezreel Ethan Cantu, Harmony Joy Cantu, Nathan Elijah Camacho, Jacob Isaiah Camacho, and Dominic Josaiah Camacho. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 28, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, with a prayer service to be held at 7:00 p.m. A chapel service will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home with interment to follow at San Benito Memorial Park.
