Javier “Harvey” Resendez, 44, passed away Wednesday, June 2nd, 2021 in his home in San Benito Texas. Javier was born and raised in San Benito, Texas and devoted his life entirely to his family. He was a loving, kind-hearted, humorous man that got along with others, but his main priority was always the love for his grandchildren. Harvey was always available to their aid whether it be swinging at the park, teaching them how to dance, or even the daily activities of babysitting. He loved his grandkids with his entire heart and in return they even nicknamed him “Hoho”. On his days of leisure he spent his time unwinding with his other half Hilda Gonzalez, and his faithful dog Penelope. They would spend their days doing some of their favorite activities which included fishing, watching action movies, or even the typical Amazon shopping. As a humorous man Harvey was quite a jokester especially when it applied towards his children and family. In the words of his daughter, “He always wanted to make someone laugh, especially when they were sad.” Overall, when his children needed him he was thoughtful, supportive, and always helped out when he could. In Harvey’s usual jokester fashion he always teased his brothers. In one specific situation Harvey’s brother Tony attempted to obtain one of Harvey’s ceramic lions, in a jokingly fashion, during a home fish fry. Before his brother left the home Harvey purposely patted him down to identify that no ceramic lions were taken. As a loving son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he will truly be missed. Harvey was preceded in death by his brother: Joel Resendez, father: Juan Antonio Resendez, maternal grandfather: Miguel Meza, paternal grandparents: Antonio Resendez and Juana Gonzalez Resendez. He is survived by his maternal grandmother: Berta Meza, parents: Guadalupe Meza Medrano and Ricardo Medrano, brother Jason Resendez (Veronica), and Juan Antonio Resendez, wife, Hilda Gonzalez, children: Javier Resendez Jr. (Briana), Adela N. Resendez, Monika Resendez (Sergio), Jonathan J. Resendez, Fidencio Gonzalez (Marissa), Natalie Gonzalez (Morgan), Karroleena Gonzalez, Antonio Gonzalez (Alexus), and Nataviti Gonzalez, grandchildren: Noah Resendez, Josiah Resendez, Nayeli Resendez, Aaliyah and Aaiden (Jalan) Jimenez; Sophia, Kahayla Quinones, Leon and Nico Gonzalez; Brett, Ava, and Kaden Archambault, Godsons: Sergio Perez Jr. and David Torres, numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Monday, June 14, 2021 from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in San Benito with interment to follow at San Benito City Cemetery.
