Florencio “Cuate” Cortez, 87, was called to be with our Lord on June 8, 2021. Florencio is preceded by his beautiful love of 63 years, Anita and his son Arnulfo, as well as several brothers, and sisters. Left behind to cherish his memories are his children: Heriberto (Kathy+), Isfrain (Margarita), Nora (Santos), Leticia (Mark), and Joel (Sara), numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Cuate will always be remembered for his hard work, love for life, dedication and love of his precious family and his caring generosity and unselfish love he gave to those around him. Cuate could not resist the smell and taste of Anita’s enchiladas and we all know he is once again enjoying them. He was an avid baseball, football, and boxing fan and enjoyed watching the great fights with his family. He loved Mariachi music and even sang when he was younger. Most of all, Cuate will be remembered for the passion and love he had for his wife Anita. They are once again united in God’s kingdom. Visitation will be held Friday, June 11, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Heavenly Father Catholic Church in, Olmito, TX. All individuals are encouraged to social distance and must wear face coverings or masks. (May include bandanas or sewn or cloth face coverings).
