Obituary of Felicitas Garcia

Please share a memory of Felicitas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Felicitas Galvan Garcia was born on September 7th in the year 1938 to Antonia Lozano and Leon Galvan. A native of Mexico, she lived her formative years in her beloved Atotonilco El Alto, Jalisco. She must have loved her time in this beautiful Mexican village, because she often referred to it with vivid memories. In 1954, she came to Port Isabel, where she raised by her mother and stepfather Ricardo Villarreal. It was there that she met and married the love of her life, Israel Garcia. They were married for 61 years and raised a family of 3 boys and 3 girls, leaving a lifetime of happy memories. If it is true that the mother is the heart of the home, then Eliza, as her husband called her, was a heart of gold. She made sure her home was spotless and there was always food for family and friends. She loved watching Telenovelas and Juan Gabriel and the band “Bronco” on television. Her passion was gardening and everything she planted thrived. Her flowers grew bigger and more beautiful than anyone else’s. Her 15 grandchildren and 14 great children knew her as just “Grandma”. Someone who loved to go out and eat seafood, listen to music and dance into the late night. Grandma Eliza never missed a firework display or family barbeque. Holidays were important to her and she loved to decorate her yard for Halloween and Christmas. Felicitas was a devout Catholic, who still received her holy communion every week, even during her seven-year battle with Alzheimer. For Felicitas, it was all about family and her faith in God. And in the end, she was surrounded by the family she loved. May eternal rest be granted unto her and may Perpetual Light shine upon her. Felicitas Garcia was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Susana Garcia. She is survived by her husband, Israel Garcia, SR, her children; Israel Garcia, JR (Dora Lopez), Mirna Garcia (Jesus Perez), Amelia Garcia, Jorge Garcia, Jose Alvaro (Teresa Garcia), and Christine Lizette Garcia, 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, sister, Maria de la Luz Galvan and numerous nieces and nephews.
