Servando Sanchez Sr., 74, of Port Isabel, Texas, entered into eternal rest surrounded by his loving family on May 10, 2021 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. He was born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. At the age of fifteen he came to Port Isabel and has made this his home ever since. He loved to joke around with his family and friends. He was a shrimper in the shrimping industry and carpenter. Servando was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Isabel, Texas. Servando was preceded in death by his dad: Pablo Sanchez; mother: Odilia Cantu Sanchez; sister: Amparo Garza as well as his 3 brothers; Pedro Sanchez, Eugenio Sanchez and Juan Sanchez. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 40 years, Maria P. Sanchez; three sons Servando Sanchez Jr., Francisco (Paloma) W. Guzman and Martin Sanchez, siblings; Maria (Robert) Vela and Guadalupe Torres as well as his grandchild Maria Margarita Guzman and Iker Parra. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m., at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas with cremation to follow according to his wishes. All individuals are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines by socially distancing a minimum space of 6 feet apart and must wear face covers or masks.
